Beau Rivage Wins National Restaurant Association 2007 Restaurant Neighbor Award
The Mississippi Hospitality & Restaurant Association is proud to announce that MGM MIRAGE’s Beau Rivage Resort & Casino has won the coveted 2007 Restaurant Neighbor Award in the Large Business category for the state of Mississippi.
The National Restaurant Association, Mississippi Hospitality & Restaurant Association and corporate sponsor American Express are pleased to honor restaurant companies that have gone above and beyond in giving back to their communities through its Restaurant Neighbor Award program.
Beau Rivage was recognized for its incredible community service in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. In the post-Hurricane Katrina world, MGM MIRAGE’s Beau Rivage Resort & Casino has demonstrated that helping those in need is a long-term commitment. To meet the immediate needs of the community and first responders after the Katrina disaster, Beau Rivage donated all its available food; opened a dining hall in the parking lot; and set up call centers to connect families with assistance from FEMA and the American Red Cross. But the company's support and commitment to the region lasted long after Katrina subsided. As the largest employer in Biloxi, Beau Rivage put 3,800 people back to work when it reopened Aug. 29, 2006 -- a year after Katrina struck.
“It has been said that the true test of character is how people react in the face of adversity. While the effects of Hurricane Katrina affected so many people, so did the efforts of the employees of Beau Rivage,” stated Mike Cashion CAE, Executive Director of the MHRA. Cashion adds, “Beau Rivage rose to the challenge and set an example for the rest of the country. I could not be more proud to have them as a member of the MHRA. They have set precedence for community service that will be hard to replicate.”
Beau Rivage was a finalist in the competition for the National Restaurant Neighbor Award presented on September 24, 2007 at the National Restaurant Association’s Public Affairs Conference in Washington, D.C.
The Mississippi Hospitality & Restaurant Association is a non-profit association composed of over 2000 food service operators, lodging properties, attractions, convenience stores, casinos, suppliers, manufacturers, and other professionals who realize the importance of working together for the good of our industry.
