MGM MIRAGE Presents Annual Employee Volunteer of the Year Awards

Beau Rivage Employees Receive Two of the Three Top Company Awards

BILOXI, Miss. – MGM MIRAGE recently held its Fourth Annual Community Partners Breakfast in Las Vegas and two Beau Rivage team members were singled out as shining examples among the company’s more than 55,000 employees. The annual event recognizes the work of the community agencies who receive MGM MIRAGE philanthropy and Company employees who volunteer their time and talents to community service.

“I’m not only proud of MGM MIRAGE whose philanthropic efforts, including corporate charitable giving and employee-funded Voice Foundation donations, have exceeded $7 million this year alone,” said George P. Corchis, Jr., president and chief operating officer of MGM MIRAGE’s Mississippi Operations, “I’m inspired by the achievements of the Beau Rivage team, particularly our employees who were awarded two of the top three company volunteer awards for 2009.”

During the event, MGM MIRAGE presented its 2009 Voice Employee Volunteer of Year awards to Linda Tucker, Beau Rivage Bartender (Front-line Staff) and William Smith, Mandalay Bay Food and Beverage Supervisor (Supervisory Staff). Each winner of the Employee Volunteer of the Year award received a $1,000 cash donation for a non-profit agency of their choice.

In 2000, the same year she became a Beau Rivage employee, Linda Tucker and her friend Charlene Schneider founded Pride With A Purpose, a foundation and benefit dedicated solely to providing free mammograms for low income and uninsured woman. It began with two women concerned over the loss of so many friends to breast cancer and committed to women’s health and the prevention of the disease. As a result, Hancock Medical Center’s Mammography Assistance Program (MAP) was established and it is the only program of its kind on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Since its inception, more than $105,555 has been raised and more than 400 mammograms have been provided to women in Hancock County, Mississippi.

In addition to the Employee Volunteer of the Year awards, MGM MIRAGE also presented its 2009 Employee Volunteer Shining Star award to Greg Van Stone, Beau Rivage Director of Food and Beverage. The award is given annually to the employee who not only performs community
volunteerism, but is also active in enlisting other employees to volunteer in the community.

The winner of the Shining Star award also received a $1,000 cash donation for an agency of his choice.

In 2008, when Greg Van Stone was elected president of the Beau Rivage Diversity Council, he set a goal not only for himself, but for the council to "leave a legacy.” Van Stone seeks out Kaboom builds, cleanup projects and any community initiative where he believes "the team" can make a difference. Under his leadership, more than 80 volunteers were recruited to participate in Kaboom builds, including his daughter who worked beside him at each one. In addition, he has been active with Habitat for Humanity rebuilding homes for people affected by Hurricane Katrina.

Also during Van Stone’s tenure, the Beau Rivage Diversity Champions set a goal of reading to all elementary schools in the Biloxi Public School System. Not only did they achieve their goal, Van Stone attended every book reading. In April 2009, the Biloxi Public School System recognized the Beau Rivage Diversity Champions for outstanding dedication and mentorship to the students of Biloxi. In addition, the Beau Rivage Diversity Champions were recognized by the City of Biloxi as the Adult Volunteer Group of the Year for outstanding volunteer commitment under Van Stone’s leadership.

MGM MIRAGE’s Annual Community Partners Breakfast also reaffirms the Company’s continuing commitment to the development of sustainable host communities where its properties operate. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jim Murren presented two ceremonial checks at the breakfast, including a check in the amount of $2.4 million to commemorate the Company’s 2009 corporate donations and a second symbolic check of $4.7 million to symbolize the donations in 2009 by the 55,000 employees of MGM MIRAGE through the Company’s Employee Voice Foundation. Hundreds of agencies throughout Nevada, Michigan and Mississippi have received a share of the Company’s corporate and Voice Foundation support.

The Voice Foundation is the Company’s non-profit, philanthropic entity that collects and disburses employee donations to deserving charities and causes. The Company pays all administrative costs for the Voice Foundation operations, so that employee donations can be invested entirely in the recipients of these contributions. Since its inception in 2002 the Voice Foundation has disbursed more than $30 million in employee donations.
